Jasmine Lodge has attempted to rectify this where possible with its ‘pro-poor’ employment, tour and food policies. Kunn employs eight permanent

CAMBODIA ANGKOR HOMESTAY

Homestays are an alternative to traditional tourism.

Mr. Kunn is not  just only owner of Jasmine Guesthouse in Siem Reap. He also was born in the countryside and full of villagers homestay activity experience . Venturing off the beaten tracks, you will learn about rural Cambodia and get the opportunity to connect with the communities and know more of lifestyle of Cambodian people, talking with people left from Khmer rouge with experience in farm and try local families'  traditional meals. Families are especially welcome.

In my family in countryside have only 5 people, my father is commune policeman and my mother is the beansprout seller, my younger brother and youngest one is my sister and me is the oldest of family  and it is a really hard work  for my mother  but nothing to do can make profit in countryside and the thing is hard like get up early in the morning at 4 am every morning  and some morning i got up with my younger brother carrying down to river port for washing and other nights my father was tired after came back from guarding and he did not help share my mother's work and made my mother was crying and had a big arguement however on behalf of me was the oldesf of family have to help her and some morning my mother could sell out and some morning is raining nobody go to market and left a lot of bean sprout and we do some bean sprout peckle used it to eat with babecue fish and others make pig food.and right now more than 10 years i had moved from my village to siem reap and my parents had stopped doing bean sprout. they have started to feed chickens and pig for making piglet for selling instead.  The real action of farmers are harvesting the rice in the fields with the drivers and tourists as well.helping the family you are staying with them like poding the banana for making pig foods and learning how to cook family foods and  going to help farmer in community growing the vegetables and fishing around in the rivers.

Review of customers went to village homestay

I just thought I would get in touch again to thank you for organising the homestay that I did with Chin's family in Sranal village, sranal commune and kralanh district a week ago. Sorry that it has taken me so long to get back in touch and let you know how it went but I have not had access to the internet in the last week since leaving Siem Reap. Anyway, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the homestay, which lasted 3 days and 2 nights. Chin and his family were most welcoming and I felt at ease from the moment I arrived. I learnt so much about Cambodia culture while staying on the farm and Chin was the perfect host. I would even go as far as saying that the homestay was one of the best things I've done while being in South Asia and many thanks must go to Chin and his family for making my Cambodian homestay such a fantastic and memorable experience. I would appreciate it if you could pass on this message to Chin and his family and let them know how much I enjoyed staying with them. In fact, I hope to revisit the family in years to come!

    homestay near siem reap, Cambodia

I just wanted to recommend this homestay in Cambodia. Its run by a guy called chonly and he's great! You can stay with his family in a small village near siem reap, and spend the days touring round with him and his motor bike and oxcart . He picks you up in hotels and guesthouse in siem reap in town  and helps you arrange onward travel from there. He charged 45$ for 2 nights accomodation, breakfats, lunch and dinners, plus the day tour. Its less per person if there are more of you. I know its more than you'd pay staying in a hostel, but the experience is amazing, and you know the money is going directly to the people and village. Give him a few dyas notice and head on out there!!
